Nightstand

I bought my first nightstand at BJ's and assembled it at home. It was a round wooden nightstand called the Hazelnut Table. The nightstand came in a small square cardboard box that was compact and easy to carry.

Inside the box were three pieces: the tabletop, a center pole, and the base. The tabletop had a 12-inch radius, and the base had a 14-inch radius. I carried the box upstairs, unpacked everything, and began assembling it.

Unfortunately, I attached the center pole the wrong way. The screw was longer than the hole underneath the tabletop, and I damaged the wood. After finishing the assembly, I covered the damaged spot with several smiley-face stickers. Problem solved!

I removed my old rectangular wooden table and replaced it with the new round nightstand. When my husband came home, I showed it to him. He liked it, but I thought the version with drawers would be even better.

Later, I ordered the version with drawers from eBay. It arrived fully assembled in a large, heavy box.

I wanted to surprise my husband, so I moved the box by myself. First, I rolled it through the front door and into the house so I could see how heavy it was. After testing it, I realized it was quite heavy, but still manageable. Since I wanted my surprise to be complete before my husband came home, I decided to continue.

The staircase is directly in front of the front door, which worked in my favor. I rolled the box up 14 carpeted stairs and into the bedroom.

Once upstairs, I unpacked the new nightstand, installed the drawer knobs, and moved it into position. Then I removed the round wooden nightstand and replaced it with the new white nightstand with two drawers. The nightstand measures 16 × 22 × 22 inches (height).

The shipping box was much larger than the nightstand itself.

When my husband got home from work, I showed him the completed surprise. He was happy with the new white nightstand and its drawers.

I also told him that I had taken photos of the delivery damage and reported that the top drawer did not slide smoothly. I intended to keep the nightstand, but I hoped the seller might offer a partial refund.

To my surprise, the seller immediately refunded $50. Since I had paid only $71 for the nightstand, I was very pleased with the outcome.

Most of all, I was proud of myself. My mission to surprise my husband was successfully completed.

Additionally, to protect the damaged spot on the round table, I bought a clear plastic protector and placed it on top of the table. It helps prevent accidental bumps or impacts and keeps the damage from getting worse. The plastic protector was the best choice for double protection.

Note:
I paid $71 for the nightstand and received a $50 refund after reporting the delivery damage and drawer issue.

Look at the two storyboards. Can you spot the mistakes?
