A real man from internet

Many years ago, when I was in Thailand, I helped a manicurist look for a man on a dating site. She couldn’t communicate in English, so I helped her talk to him. I was grateful when I was able to bring a nice man from the internet into her real life.

The funny part was when she asked me to stay overnight with them in the same bed. Everyone laughs when I tell this story now, but in that moment, I felt very uncomfortable. I made it through the night, and then she asked me to stay for a second night. No way! She was worried she wouldn’t be able to communicate with her man without me.

After I moved to the USA to live with my husband, I heard from the man. He told me he was trying to bring her and her son to his country. It took a long time, but eventually they were together.

Their story had a happy ending, and a beautiful beginning — the start of their life together as a couple.
